i am doing ALL I can to help your not fortunate countrymen, so are my collleagues in the UN, WHO, USAID, CCF, et al--but it is not enough. I think more Malaysian overseas and the government should shoulder more responsibility than they do now. I think some of them are under the impression that our hard work is sufficient--nothing can be farther from the truth. Give back please, human lives, elderly women and children are at stake. Someday our efforts may actually save a loved one's life--and not just some "faceless" squatter in the slums. Right, Sabah is part of Malaysia and that has already been proven with hundreds, if not thousands, of Filipinos have been deported to the Philippines because they were there illegally. But it wasn't the Philippines' fault there was a misunderstanding or false claim regarding Sabah because the former based their claim of ownership on a piece of paper and honestly thought it was for real. Anyway, people from Mindanao finds it accessible or plausible to journey into Sabah rather than to Manila. First, most who go to Sabah are Muslims and Sabah, as part of Malaysia, is a Muslim territory. They have something in common with the inhabitants of the place. Second, isn't it just right that these people would like to mingle with their kith and kin because most of those living in that area are Filipinos or have Filipino descendants? And third, how could the Philippine government help those people when it doesn't even know that they have exited the country via the illegal way (through the backdoor)? Anyway, when these things came out in the open when a Muslim member of a kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) group made an escape to Sabah after kidnapping some foreign tourists in a resort in Malaysia, the Philippine government immediately directed its Coast Guard to patrol the sea between Sulu and Sabah to prevent another exodus or infiltration by members of KFR group. Oh well, you can't accuse the Philippine government of not doing anything. At least it has done something. Now, let Malaysia do its part, too.

Will try to answer this question straight to the point. Sabah was and is indeed a territory once belongs to the Sulu sultanate.But that was history or "herstory" now. Please do note that most or majority of the southern Pinays and Pinoys are muslim. The Manila government thinks or thought that they are nuisance ( not my intention here to insult muslims ). However they the southern Filipinos are "readily" accepted by the ruling Malaysian government on condition that they must be from muslim religion. This is due to political fact that the local Sabahans and Sarawakians are not muslims. In order for the present Malaysian government to rule and to gain political mileage, PR or citizenship are granted to muslims illegal immigrants. All the locals of Sabahans and sarawakians knew about this.Various police reports have been filed and was raised in Parliment. But the malaysian police and government denies it ( about granting of PR to illegal muslim immigrants) Since as a muslim , they can be easily categorise as of Bumiputra or "prince of soil" status and able to enjoy special privileges that non muslim Malaysian cannot have. *note the term Bumiputra is also known as Babiputra and Umnoputra. ( again its not my intention to use those 2 degrading words, but it is the lingo used) Actually your question is more appropriate to be submited to BN or Umno.Thats the government...or calls your Musa Aman (Chief minister of sabah)for an answer.
