What is the appropriate business dress for a female in Malaysia

What is the appropriate business dress for a female in Malaysia?
I'll be working as a marketing manager for an outdoor company based in Kuala Lumpur and I'm not sure what clothes are appropriate! Any examples would be welcome as would any cultural restrictions (Islam). Thanks for your help!

Basically you are allow to wear anything beside being naked. They won't do anything to tourists and only muslim will follow the islamic rules. Malaysia has 35% non-muslims, so it is unlike those conservative islamic countries in middle east.
4 :
Friends have told me that the basic thing is to have your arms covered, long sleeve blouses, jackets instead of vests and the like The Malaysians/Malays seemed to be very tolerant but dressing modestly was seen as showing respect for the dominant culture
5 :
you should wear appropriate corporate attire. BTW, which company are you working with, you might meet me....

Oh you'll be surprised at how sexy some marketing/sales ppl wear here. But for a professional image as a marketing person, usually anything that covers you well esp. your chest, make sure not too revealing necklines, covers your boobs, knee lenght skirts, pants - not hot pants, not too thight/flashy & how you behave & personality. If you're alone in lonely or majority men territory, it's always safe to wear extra long jacket/or Scarf. Sometimes they way men looks at a lone female despite being well dressed are pretty intimidating/scary, no matter in which country. Btw. good luck in your new job!
7 :
a moderate attire should be cover yourself below the knee.. maybe wear a long skirt / dress.. shirt should cover your breast or wear a jacket..
8 :
Expensive and smart looking jacket. Tho' you may be cooked due by the crouching sun before you reach your destination.
9 :
you should wear a very corporate/business-like attire. like blouse (dark tone of colors or earth colors) with blazer, showing less less skin. with long pants or long skirt. the shortest a skirt could go is knee-length. then put your hair all in a ponytail or a bun (if you're not covering your hair), best as not to leave strands of hair on your face. last, a bit jewellery. not anything flashy, but something sophisticated.

Looking for someone who used to work in Pakistan Airlines

Looking for someone who used to work in Pakistan Airlines?
Is there anyone who can assist? I am trying to find some old friends who i have lost touch with , one used to work in PIA cargo and used to travel to Asia often, especially Manila. (this is about 30 years ago. The other friend used to be a pilot and was based in Kuala Lumpur, i think with MAS and then with PIA. He married a friend of mine. Unfortunately i have lost touch with all of them as we all moved overseas. I would really like to find them again. I called the HR Director in PIA in the HD office, at first he was polite but when he found out it was a personal request he was very rude, he said he couldnt help me and hung up on me! If there is anyone out there who might be able to assist, pls drop me a line. Thank you.

Ladies' clothing in Malaysia

Ladies' clothing in Malaysia?
My 19yo daughter is going to work for a business in Kuala Lumpur. What is the etiquette for the fashion there? Do girls have to wear pantyhose with dresses? I assume below the knee dresses/skirts are appropriate and no skimpy clothing. Any tips on customs would be appreciated. (have bought a Lonely Planet book for info). I'm in Australia and my daughter will be working in a legal office. I'm just concerned about her being prepared to do the right thing culturally and to not offend. Thanks for the advice so far.

Youhave the right idea.....If she is in a mangerial position, then a light jacket with a neck scarf is appropriate....However, do what colleagues do....
2 :
pantyhose....i have not seen anyone wearing that for the last 20 years, if she is wearing that i am very sure she'll be teased if she got the figure, tight skirt is the most common dress, of course knee length
3 :
Where are you from?Anyway...i am a guy...!now..it really depends on what she works as.If shes in the bank..yeah..she might have to.Other than that,i have noticed most girls dont really wear pantyhoses..Its really the heat here you know what i am saying.Yes Knee length is good.No skimpy for sure. But take into consideration, the humid weather when dressing. And i am sure, she can get enough clothings here from all malls..and they are reasonably priced too..i can understand you are a concerned mum,but hey..shes entitled to choices too;)Good luck
4 :
yeah they're all right. and i may also add this- no cleavage. i know it's quite common to wear low neck blouses in countries like australia but here it's a no-no (for work)
5 :
pantyhose big no-no!

If you being to New York than that find you can just used normal and lady like that's all. Be natural to who you are. DatukGong Bean Laden your answer really make me laugh today after tension thinking to leave Malaysia and work in overseas.

Living in Sydney Or Melbourne? Driving factor of my migration plan are my kids' education and job opportunity
I am a Malaysian living in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. there are 4 of us in the family. my hubby & I with 2 young kids. my husband is a businessman in the F&B line while i am an accountant. the purpose of migrating to AU is because of the education for my kids and more work life balance for my husband & I. We are uncertain where to settle down. to settle with Melbourne or Sydney. We have heard that Melbourne is one of the most liveable city in the world. But Sydney offers better job opportunities? I need advices from those of you who have the experience of both. I am sure these 2 cities are beautiful, just not sure which suits my family best. need your advice....thanks in advance.

I have lived at both. Clothes are better in Melbourne Weather is warmer is Sydney Sydney may be more multicultural than Melbourne Schooling is good at both locations There are excellent career opportunities at both locations Both locations are great and nice places to bring up your children.
2 :
Melbourne and Sydney are both great cities with excellent schools and universities. Whichever you choose, your children's education will be fine. I have lived in both and would do so again with no problems but if I had to make a choice, Sydney would be my preference. I would investigate the job opportunities and choose the city that offers the best in that line, the rest will fall into place. You can't go wrong in either city.

Canberra or Sydney, look Sydney is good for school, and other stuff, like jobs too and fun too ! But Canberra is great to live ! By the way im from Sydney !

Melbourne has been called the one of the most livable cities in the world. However, I think Sydney has more career opportunities. Beware of Sydney humidity!!
